Abstract:
This work aims to compare the results produced by one alternated pulsed current in relation to that obtained with one alternated constant current with the same rms value in the welding of aluminum using the GTAW CA process without material addition and with positive electrode percentage control. To achieve this goal weld beads on sheets plans of 4 mm aluminum were performed with both forms of electrical current. The objective is to know, by the results analyses, concerning the classical alternated constant current, and in distinct percentual values, how much the pulsation of the electrical current in different frequencies affects the characteristics of penetration, the width of weld beads and the melted area. This analyses will take in to consideration the discontinuities in the weld produced. The aim of this article is to verify if what is found in specific literature about the benefits provided by the GTAW CA process with pulsed current for welding of aluminum and its alloys is true. The intention is to respond the following question: Are there benefits in pulsating?
