Abstract: In Brazil, the metallic wheels of the agricultural tractors are produced using plates and annoying bars of steel carbon. In the production sequence the cut processes, resignation, assembly, welding and finish are used. The manual welding GMAW is used now in the union of the structural components. Besides being an unhealthy and slow process, the quality of the accomplished unions it depends strongly on the welder's ability. With the objective of obtaining larger productivity and better quality, a production cell was developed for the automated welding constituted GMAW of: a manipulator CNC of the torch, a rotative table with his system of fixation of the wheels and the welding equipment. The union procedures for the solid wire AWS ER70S-6 of 1,0 mm diameter protected by the mixture 75% Air + 25% CO2 were developed also. In order to turn the more robust welding process with the objective of avoiding rework weaving techniques and path correction was used through inductive joint tracking. The earnings obtained in relation to the manual process were: reduction of 1/3 in the time of welding, increase in the productivity of the order of 150%, better uniformity and quality of
the weld beads.
