2017 - LABSOLDA/UFSC project wins the 9th EletroMetalCon Award for Innovative Projects

1st Place: LABSOLDA - FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF SANTA CATARINA – FLORIANÓPOLIS (SC)
Title: AUTOMATED TIG ORBITAL WELDING SYSTEM FOR SMALL DIAMETER TUBES

The project “Automated TIG Orbital Welding System for Small Diameter Tubes” from LABSOLDA/UFSC was ranked first in the 9th EletroMetalCon Award for Innovative Projects with Applicability in the Metallurgical, Mechanical, Electronic, Electrical Materials, and Civil Construction Industries. Second place went to the project from Faculdade de Pato Branco – FADEP on the theme “Use of Infiltration Trenches for Urban Drainage Systems.” In third place was the project from UNITAU – University of Taubaté, named “IPAI - Individual Automatic Programmable Switch.” The three works were exhibited during the EletroMetalCon 2017 Forum, held from May 9 to 11 at Senai. The final classification was revealed on May 19, during the Industry Feast held at Buffet Planalto in Londrina, and was attended by the teams of authors and advisors of the projects, who received trophies in addition to the cash prize.
The 9th EletroMetalCon Award for Innovative Projects is organized by SINDIMETAL Londrina and SINDUSCON Norte/PR, with the support of SERCOMTEL, SENAI, and SESI, and sponsored by Fomento Paraná and the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná – FIEP.
The 2017 edition of the EletroMetalCon Award for Innovative Projects registered a record number of entries, with 48 papers from undergraduate and graduate students from higher education institutions in 7 states. The EletroMetalCon Award registered 01 project from the State of Ceará, 02 from the Distrito Federal, 07 from Minas Gerais, 21 from Paraná, 02 from Rio Grande do Sul, 03 from Santa Catarina, and 12 from the State of São Paulo, totaling 48 projects from undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students.

The 9th edition of the EletroMetalCon Award for Innovative Projects also stood out for awarding the selected project teams with trophies crafted by a team of students from the Senai Londrina Industry College. The trophy developed was designed to highlight the use of different types of metals in yellow, silver, and red colors, used respectively for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. In the trophies' design theme, the different elements that make up the EletroMetalCon Award for Innovative Projects logo were used, represented by a human head and several gears, symbolizing the human capacity for development and achievement, the essence of the goals of the aforementioned Award.
