Abstract

This paper introduces the concept of “Wire Dynamic Force (Fwd)”. The Fwd represents the forces generated by the controlled movement of the electrode wire in the GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) process. The following forces are discussed in detail: Fwd in wire rotation, Fwd in wire vibration, Fwd in wire pulsation, and Fwd in GMAW-DF (Dynamic Feed, CMT (Cold Metal Transfer) by Fronius and similar technologies). Each of these technologies is described with emphasis on their operating principles and practical applications. This paper provides an updated understanding of metal transfer mechanisms in advanced welding processes, where mechatronic systems are used to execute wire dynamics.
Keywords: Wire dynamic force; GMAW (Gas metal arc welding); DF (Dynamic feed); CMT (Cold metal transfer)
